He was predeceased by: his parents, Hal Hildreth Tanner and Georgia Turnipseed Tanner. He is survived by: his children, Hal Hildreth Tanner III (Leigh) of Goldsboro, Lisa Tanner Robbins (Greg) of Wilson, Georgia Tanner Gurley (Trey) of Goldsboro and Mary Catherine Tanner of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Georgia, Hil, Margaret, Mary Crawford Tanner, Grace Robbins, David, Louise, Thomas Gurley, Ben, Camille and Jack Stuber; his sister Emily Tanner Moore (Robert Dunn Moore); his nieces, Virginia Moore LaFar of Charlotte and Cynthia Moore Greiner of Charlotte; and also Lillie Frasier.
