He was predeceased by: his parents, Huland Gardner and Peggy Gardner. He is survived by: his wife Toni Ellis Gardner; his children, Melissa, Johnny Sauls, Candy, Timmy Cruse, James Gardner Jr. and Howard Gardner; his siblings, Ray, Judy Trott and Suzette Gardner Evans; and his mother-in-law Hazel Ellis. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
