He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sadie Coley Swinson of Raleigh and Robert L. Swinson; his wife Nadine Reynolds Swinson; his daughter Avetta "Cookie" Swinson of Raleigh; his stepson John Fant of Maryland; and his brother Reginald Swinson (Terrie) of LaGrange. He was also cherished by five grandchildren.
