He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Mueller Gavalyas; and his sister Catherine Rottsettis. He is survived by: his children, Phyllis Goodwin (Rennie) of Raleigh and Wayne Gavalyas (Rikki) of Tambourine; and his grandchildren, Stefanie Goodwin and Brandon Goodwin.
