He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Holloman Jernigan; his granddaughter Kristie Jernigan Lee; his parents, David Henry Jernigan and Lucy Ella Whitfield Jernigan; and his siblings, Jimmy Jernigan, Margaret J. Wall and Helen J. Garner.
He is survived by: his son Doug Jernigan; his daughter-in-law Aileen King Jernigan of Mount Olive; his daughter Meg Jackson; his son-in-law Danny Jackson of Mount Olive; his grandchildren, Allen Jernigan (Brianna) of Mount Olive, Kimberly Jernigan Smith (Scott) of Mount Olive and Courtney Jackson Lambert (Jim) of Mount Olive; his great grandchildren, Hannah Lee, Gavin Lee, Cody Smith, Ailee Smith, Annalee Smith, Sarah Jernigan, Noah Jernigan, Ella James Lambert and Olivia Lambert; his sisters, Shirley J. Deal of Mount Olive and Doris J. Ellis of Mount Olive; and his friends, Nancy K. Brock of Mount Olive, Juanita Stroud, Christy Crawford and Flora Chambers. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
