He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis C. Mcallister and Pattie Roberts Mcallister. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Young McAllister; his sons, Melvin W. "Dick" McAllister, Jr. (Jackie), William "Bill" McAllister (Cindy) and David McAllister (Suzanne); his stepchildren, Jo Lynn Lunsford (Marshall), Teresa Steimle and Harry Smith (Tammy); and his siblings, John McAllister (Anne) and Rose Corinthians. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 grea grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House 426 Hospital Rd. Smithfield, NC 27577.
