He was predeceased by: his wife Purilia Mae Quinn-Flanagan; his parents, Eugene Flanagan and Sadie Bell Branch Flanagan; his siblings, Ethel Flanagan, Dorothy Greenfield, Sallie Kornegay, Thelma Locklair, Elisha Flanagan and Tony Flanagan; his son Jimmy Flanagan; and his grandsons, Keith Jones and Taji Bookins.
He is survived by: his sons, Ralph Flanagan, Jr, Prenice Flanagan, Atlas Flanagan (Shirley), Thomas Flanagan, Billy Flanagan (Toni), Anthony Flanagan and Joe Exum; his grandson Shelton Flanagan (Sherrie); his daughter Margie Jones; his sisters, Louise Johnson, Donnie Miles and Katie Lewis; his daughter-in-law Sharon Flanagan; and his sister-in-law Thelma Flanagan. He is also survived by 11 Nieces; 4 Nephews; 11 Great Nieces; 14 Great Nephews; 10 Great Great Nieces; 9 Great Great Nephews and 1 Great Great Great Nephew.
