He is survived by: his wife Hazel Ellis; his children, Tex Ellis (Mona) of Sherman, TX, Julia McSwain (Howard) of Gaffney, SC, Toni Ann Gardner (James) of Goldsboro, NC, Renea Herring (Julius) of Dudley, NC and Robert Strickland (Meredith) of Shallotte, NC; his sister Della Ruth Ellis of Goldsboro, NC; his son-in-law Randy Best (Candy Melton) of Grantham, NC; his grandchildren, Toney Ellis, Tex Ellis, Jr., Travis Ellis, Candy Cruze, James Gardner, Howard Gardner, Melissa Sauls, Shane Strickland, Paula Harper, Anthony Best, Nathaniel Best, Donnie Strickland, Grayson Cassady, Diana Hirschfeld and Kingsley Strickland; and also Ryan Scott Strickland (Beth).
