She was predeceased by: her parents, Basil Henry Smith and Ruby Borgesse Smith; her husband Lloyd Guy Carter; her son David Matthew Carter; and her siblings, Jack Edward Smith, Jerry David Smith and Wanda Rosallee Caldwell.
She is survived by: her daughter Kristin Denise Settlemyre (Robert) of Hudson; her grandchildren, Jacob T. Settlemyre, Andrew Kyle Settlemyre and Makayla Settlemyre Crump (Daniel); and her great grandchild Aspyn Crump. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Dry Ponds Baptist Church (5235 Union Church Rd, Granite Falls, NC 28630). A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
