She was predeceased by: her parents, Marshall Howell and Cleo Osborne Howell; and her sister Margaret Blickley. She is survived by: her husband Tony Scruggs; her sons, Michael Scruggs (Tamara) of Hudson and Major Andrew Scruggs (Elizabeth) of Southern Pines; her siblings, Walter Howell of Lenoir, Jerry Howell of Charlotte, Herbert Howell of Lenoir, Polly Edmiston of Lenoir, Phyllis Woods of Lenoir, Faye Storie of Lenoir and Brenda Yates of Wilkesboro; and her grandchildren, Gaven Scruggs, Kendal Murphy, Sylas Scruggs, Mylee Scruggs, Sydney Scruggs, Maddy Murphy and Wyatt Scruggs. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
