She was predeceased by: her father Earnest Currin; her husband James Carnell Russell, Sr.; and her siblings, Wilma Moore, Edwin, Frank, Roland, Earnest, Beverly and Irvin Currin.
She is survived by: her children, Beth Ballhaussen (Peter) of Swannanoa, James Carnell "Rusty" Russell, Jr. of Apex and Chris Russell (Kathy) of Greensboro; her sisters, Doris Hayes of Tarboro and Jane Jackson (Ray) of Mooresville; and her grandchildren, Eric Ballhaussen (Bria) of Boston, Sarah Brewer (Chandler) of Asheville and Adam Ballhaussen (Sara) of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
