He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Dixon and Hettie Carroll Dixon; his wife Irene Simpson Dixon; his daughter Diane Dixon Johnson; his siblings, Thomas Dixon, Woodrow Dixon, Doris D. McPherson and Vernie Dixon Davenport; and his stepsiblings, Paul Voncannon, Milton Voncannon, Ruth V. Smith and Annie Grace V. Frazier.
He is survived by: his sons, Phillip Dixon, Jr. (Faith) of Greensboro, John Michael Dixon (Karen) of Wilmington and Bill Dixon (Sarah) of Morehead City; his sister-in-law Frances Welborn of Summerfield; his grandsons, Scott Dixon (Kelly) of Sydney and Mike Dixon (Katie) of Davidson, NC; and his great grandchildren, Caleb Dixon and Brooklyn Dixon.
