With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Charles Preston Godwin Jr. of Greenville, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 19, 2025 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Charles Preston Godwin and Betty Britt Godwin; his granddaughter Georgia Grace Godwin; and his sister Bettina Godwin Batts. He is survived by: his wife Betsy Gatling Godwin; his children, Charles Preston Godwin III (Amber) of Greenville, Ryce Danford (Matt) of Raleigh and Hadley Howard (Whit) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Sailor, Ruthie Godwin, John Matthew, Charlie Danford and Emerson Howard; his siblings, Osgood Clark Godwin (Anne) of Raleigh and Nancy Godwin Haselden; and his caregivers, Dr. Jim Galloway, Dr. Brad Jones, Dr. Charles Knupp and Dr. Wiley Nifong.
