He was predeceased by : his parents, James Phillip and Bessie Joyner Nowell; his brother Steve Nowell; his sister-in-law Joan Mayo Nowell; his niece Bridgette Dye; his children, Carolyn N. Outland of Lasker, NC and James Dennis "Jimmie" Nowell Jr. of Jackson, NC; his grandchildren, Allyson Michelle Cornwell (Ashley) of Jackson, NC, Brandon Cashwell (Lauren) of Greenville, NC and Dennis Lee Nowell of Jackson, NC; his great grandchild Hayden Michelle Cornwell; his siblings, Judy Glisan of Cary, NC and Donald Nowell of Whitakers, NC; and his sister-in-law Priscilla "Dink" Nowell of Chester, VA.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service.In lieu of flowers please make donations to the charity of your choice in his memory.
