He is survived by: his siblings' child Remodeling; his wife Jonne Purdom Godwin of Beaufort, NC; his children, Ashley Raine Cabrera-Ramirez (Luis) of Sherman, TX, Malarie Lee Godwin of Beaufort, SC and Montgomery "MJ" Godwin Jr. of Bluffton, SC; his brothers, Johnny Godwin of Newport and David Godwin Sr. of Beaufort; his close friend Michael Piner of Newport; and his pet Zoey. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with his family.
