It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Susan Jay Callcut (Havelock, North Carolina), born in Vulcan, West Virginia, who passed away on June 4, 2018, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Please do not dwell upon my death;But Celebrate my life." – C. Jenkins Susan "Sue" Jay Callcut, age 67, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away after her brief fight with metastatic lung cancer. She passed early morning, June 6th, at Brighton Gardens in Greensboro where she was a recent resident. Sue was born in Vulcan, WV on June 24, 1950. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, James Randolph Fanning and Mary Whitehead Fanning. After moving around, due to her father's military service, the family settled in Havelock, NC. She moved to Greensboro, NC, in the 1970's and has made it her home ever since. She spent most of her career as a HR Specialist. Anyone who met her quickly realized she was a giver and full of life. She spread her spirit and her love of life to everyone she met. If you needed an event planned, she was your go-to gal! She had a glow that drew others in and a sense of humor that kept you laughing and on your toes. Sue is survived by her lifetime companion – Wayne Darnell, her daughters – Rachel Atkinson-Leach (Mark) and Ginger Jacobs (Steve), and her five grandchildren - Nate, Nicole, Mason, Carissa and Grant. And of course her precious dog – Roxi. Viewing will be held at Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV on Monday, June 11th, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of services at noon; Reverend Don Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV.
