He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Phillips and Minerva Stillwell Phillips; and his siblings, Edward, Leonard Phillips, Alice Stover and Louise Bentley.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Penland Phillips; his children, Greg Phillips of Santa Monica, CA and Kim Bauer; his son-in-law Michael Bauer; his grandchildren, Madeleine Armstrong of Atlanta, GA and Erich Bauer of Atlanta, GA; his pets, Flora Bauer, Fosse and Gershwin Phillips; his sister Joanne Segner; his nephews, Keith Henderson, Floyd Phillips, Jimmy Stover and Jerry Stover; and his cousins, Dan Phillips and Jason Rhinehardt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
