Barbara Penland Israel Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 5, 2025, Barbara Penland Israel (Hendersonville, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore H. Penland and Mary L. Penland; and her husband Richard Vernon Israel Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Rick Israel of Hendersonville, Mike Israel (Linda) of Seneca, SC, Janet Holm of Hendersonville, Beth Hylemon of Hendersonville and Tim Israel (Carrie) of Hendersonville; her brother Talmadge Penland (Vera) of Hendersonville; and her siblings-in-law, Betty Stepp of Hendersonville and Ben Israel Jr. (Maxine) of Hendersonville. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Shepherd Memorial Park (5045 Asheville Hwy, Hendersonville, NC 28791).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice Care, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
