He is survived by: his children, Austin David Abernethy (Amanda) of Raleigh and Constance Anne Abernethy Swanson (Timothy) of Hickory; his sister Eva Sherry Moser of Myrtle Beach, SC; and his grandchildren, Caroline Anne Swanson, Timothy "Spencer" Swanson, Arden DeLane Abernethy and Sara Spencer Abernethy (Lesa King Baker) of Hickory Faithful.
