It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Alfred Earl Sweezy of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on December 15, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Texie Willis and Alfred Haywood Sweezy; his wife Kate Swift Sweezy; his brothers, Boyde, Harold and Harry Sweezy; and his half-siblings, Dwight, Fred Sweezy, Ruth Drewery, Lois Satterwhite and Louise Sweezy.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Sweezy (Caroline) of Raleigh and Cynthia Williard (Hunter) of Walnut Cove; and his grandchildren, Jacob Williard, Garrett, Caden Sweezy and Elizabeth Williard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Duke Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant (PBMT) Family Support Program with donations made payable to Duke University with Earl Sweezy noted in the memo line.
