It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alva Alena Phillips (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on December 31, 2019, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas H. Grindstaff and Rosie Whetstine Grindstaff; and her husband Craig Phillips. She is survived by: her children, Geraldine Buchanan, Juanita Walker, Kathi Frye, Tommy Phillips, Billy Phillips, Bobby Phillips and David Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring at 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 29658.
