It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Wade Merritt Sr. (Hickory, North Carolina), born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on April 6, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Ada Merritt; his grandmother Dovie Thomasson; his sister Patsy Roseman; his daughter Carol Jean Merritt; and his great grandchild Angel Hope Jessmer.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Merritt; his children, Billy Merritt, Jr. (Tina), Danny Merritt (Patti), Timmy Merritt (Crystal), Wanda Yancey and Tammy Griffin (Larry); his grandchildren, Brandon Jessmer (Wendy), Adam Merritt (Ashlee), Laura Merritt, Joshua Jessmer, Carol Coulter, Jacob Griffin, Jaden Lain, Landon Griffin, Hayden Merritt, Brycen Merritt and Braxton Merritt; his great grandchildren, Elijah, Jackson and Brooklynn Jessmer; and his sibling's children, Denise Walden (David) and Kenneth Roseman (Robin). He is also survived by cousins and other extended family.
