He was predeceased by: his parents, Cloyd Smith and Mary Smith; his spouse Gail Smith; his siblings, Carroll Smith, Johnny Smith, Wentford Smith, Wayburn Hare, Rachel Sholtz, Ruth Hill, Dorothy Icenhour and Hazel Bolick; and his granddaughter Cassie Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Peggy Smith (Danny Tensley) of Bethlehem, Tim Smith (Alesa Adams) of Concord, Ernie Smith and Bert Smith (Karon McKinney) of Lincolnton; his siblings, Larry Smith and Ann Worley; and his grandchildren, Lili Tensley, Lindsey Cale, Tanner Smith, Kayleigh Smith and Aiden Smith.
