It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carmie Mae Whisenant (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on February 1, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Long and Laura Leila Patron Long; her husband Elisha "Ed" Whisenant; her children, Charles Edward Howard and Barbara Ann Ellis; and her siblings, Charles Long, Roy Long, Jerry Long, Carolyn Birch and Evalee Reed.
She is survived by: her children, David Mathis (Katherine) of Granite Falls, Rita Self (Mark) of Hildebran, Sandra Eckard (Stephen) of Hickory, Tommy Ellis of Hickory and Tony Ellis of Hildebran; and her siblings, Leon Long, Ralph Long Jr., Troy Long and Barbara Jean. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren.
