He is survived by: his wife Irene Mull Abernethy; his children, Leisa Braboy (DaRaymas) of Winston-Salem, N. C., Chinita Robbs (Vergil) of Hickory, N. C., Charles Abernethy Jr. of Hickory, N. C., Anthony Abernethy (Kisha) of Hickory, N. C. and Tyrone Abernethy of Hickory, N. C.; his siblings, Robert Abernathy (Lena), William Lawrence Abernathy, Janice Abernathy, Pamela Abernathy, Cecilia (Kevin), Gregory Abernathy (Karen) of Charleston, S. C., Nancy Saddler, Judy Eckard, Terry Wilfong (Myra) of Hickory, N. C. and Franklin Wilfong of Ft. Lauderdale; and his siblings-in-law, Tami Abernathy, Emma Mull (Gene Surratt) of Hickory, N. C., Jack Brice of Hickory, N. C., Frankie Mull (Betty) and William Mull (Karen) of Baltimore. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
