With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Charles Robert Whitener (Hickory, North Carolina), born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on February 15, 2019 at the age of 80. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Michael and Margie Bryte Whitener; and his sister Betty Jo Whitener. He is survived by: his wife Betty Fulbright Whitener; his son Dwayne Whitener (Barbara Evans Whitener) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Madison Lourens (Riaan) of Raleigh, Jamie Shiffman of Hickory and Tryston Sylvester of Hickory; his great grandchildren, Graysen Cole Whitener of Hickory and Oliver Beckett Lourens of Raleigh; and his siblings, Norma Jean Weaver of Hickory, Bill Whitener (Mae) of Hickory and Alfred Whitener of Hickory. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
