He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Rockett Spencer; his son Jimmy Ray Spencer; and his siblings, Adam Spencer, Jr., Johnny W. Spencer, Bonnie S. Clark and Cora "Sis" Mace.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary Michael Spencer (Shearin) of Hickory and Timothy Lee Spencer of Hickory; his siblings, Larry Spencer of Rapid City, SD, Betty S. Jolly of Taylorsville and Nellidean S. Scism of Lawndale; and his grandchildren, Michelle S. Teague (Mark) of Hickory, Sonja S. Childres of Hildebran and Laura S. Cannon (Brad) of Bethlehem. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
