It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Rebecca Whisnant of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on March 16, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Benjamin Morrison Jarrett, Sr. and Louella Martin Jarrett; and her grandson Jonathan Jordan. She is survived by : her husband Thomas Ray Whisnant (Tom); her children, Tamrah Jordan (Terry Kepple) of Hickory and Jeffrey Whisnant (Jennifer) of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Courtney Taylor, Jennie Faulk, Kaitlyn Whisnant and Emily Whisnant; and her great grandchildren, Xander Faulk, Olivia Faulk, Thea Taylor and Callie Taylor.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 21st 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel (334 2nd St NW, Hickory, NC 28601). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 21st 2023 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Reformed Church, 3562 Startown Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
