He was predeceased by: his parents, Ned Whitener and Mary Jenkins Whitener; and his brothers, Ned David Whitener and Brant "Tree" Whitener. He is survived by: his wife Pam Whitener; his daughters, Lorri Whitener Hoke of Hickory, Leslie Williamson (Bret) of Statesville and Sherri Hall of Statesville; and his grandchildren, Preston, Briana Hoke of Hickory, Seth, Emily Williamson of Statesville, Connor Hall of Stokesdale and Logan Hall of Raleigh.
