He is survived by: his son Kenneth Powell (Tashanna) of Waterbury, CT.; his stepchildren, J. Lynette Powell of Hickory and Carl D. Powell (Jessica) of Claremont, NC.; his former wife Margaret Powell of Hickory, NC.; his sisters, Margaret James of Hickory, NC. and Pauline Williams of Hickory, NC.; his sister-in-law Gail Linney Powell of Statesville, NC.; and his close friends, William "Bill" Dowdy of Hickory, NC., Harold Chapman of Hickory, NC. and Mary Jett of Hickory, NC.. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
