He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Coots and Mallie Wells Coots; and his siblings, Janie Coots, Ollie Meeks, Lula Caudill, Mary Stacey, Martha Combs, Bertha Cody, Lloyd Coots, Elmer Coots and Jim Coots.
He is survived by: his wife Glenna Whitehead Coots; his children, Zaneta Zombro, Ernest Glenn Coots (Laurel), Marlenia Coots, Jamie Deaton (Anthony) and Candice Khang (Shawn); and his niece Peggy Combs. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
