With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gail Icenhour Mathews of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Alexander, North Carolina, who passed away on February 9, 2021 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Foye Icenhour and Gertie Crouch Icenhour; her sisters, Phyllis I. Laney and Gilda I. Houston; and her niece Tangela Laney Chapman.
She is survived by: her husband Everette Mathews; her sons, Gary Mathews (Becky) of Conover and Tim Mathews of Hickory; her grandchildren, Tatum M. Sigmon (Lance) of Conover and Shane Mathews (Jen) of Indian Land, SC.; her great grandchildren, Trace Mathews, Logan Mathews, Kylie Mathews, Evan Sigmon and Chase Sigmon; and her sibling's children, Tina Laney Reid and Barry Houston.
