He was predeceased by: his parents, James Gudger Barrier, Sr. and Novella Huffman Barrier; and his son James Eugene Barrier. He is survived by: his daughter Crystal Johnson of Hickory; his brother Gene Barrier (Carol) of Berea, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Tabitha Heavner (Adam), Summer Barrier Guthrie (Brian) and Lucas Johnson (Ashley); and his great grandchildren, Graham, Carter, Blake, Riley Heavner, Isaiah Johnson, Levi Barrier, Peyton Ressler and Christopher Williams.
