He was predeceased by: his father James D. Dietz, Sr.; and his siblings, Phillip Dietz and Lisa Dietz. He is survived by: his mother Phyllis Passmore of Hickory; his wife Deborah Allen Dietz; and his children, London Dietz of Hickory, Eva Dietz of Hickory and Jared Dietz of Hickory. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
