She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Carl Fleming and Alice Ruth Sigmon Fleming; her husband Luke Edward Detter; and her stepfather Earl Pierce. She is survived by: her daughter Karan Ruth Detter Kirby (Larry) of Granite Falls; her sister Peggy Y. Fleming of Hickory; her granddaughter Shaleigh Scott; and her stepgrandchildren, Shannon Kirby Herman of Hudson and Jason Kirby of Lenoir.
