He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Edwin L. Setzler and Nancy Martin Setzler; and his brother Edwin L. Setzler, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Janice Cobb Setzler; his children, John Jr. (Tonya) and Margaret Belcher (Lyle); his grandchildren, Marilyn Davis and Mason Davis; and his sister Alice Richmond of Durham.
