He was predeceased by: his wife Faye Marie Starnes (Shook); his parents, Roy Starnes and Rose Marie Starnes (Sharpe); his brothers, Ed Starnes, Hershel Starnes and Herbie Starnes; and his daughter Ellen Marie Rice (Starnes).
He is survived by: his brother RJ Starnes of Hickory; his son John Eric Starnes (Veronika); his grandson Michael Rice; and his grandchildren-in-law, Patrick and Marta.
John will lie in state Wednesday, November 25, 2020 from 11:00am to 7:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home, due to Covid restriction to avoid large gathering.
