He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Thomas Starnes and Agnes Hildebran Starnes-Ward; his brother Wayne Starnes; and his brother-in-law Sonny Herndon. He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Cook Starnes; his children, Todd Starnes (Miriam) of Taylorsville, Dana Gibson (Allen) of Hickory and Derek Starnes (Hollie) of Hickory; his siblings, Kendrick Starnes (Phyllis) of Hickory, Roger Starnes (Vivian) of Florida, Evalina Herndon of Lincolnton and Zelda Burns (John) of Missouri; his stepbrother Errol Ward (Sue); his sister-in-law Earlene Starnes; his grandchildren, Chance Benfield, Lauren Starnes, Grant Starnes and Gracie Benfield; his great grandchild Dalton Mitchell; and his pets, Misty and Midnight. He is also survived by friend.
