He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady M Pinkerton and Orphia L. Swainey Pinkerton; and his brothers, Jim Pinkerton, Fred Pinkerton, Tom Pinkerton and Bob Pinkerton.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia G. Pinkerton; his children, Charles "Skip" Pinkerton (Nancy) of Kings Mountain, NC, Kenneth B. Pinkerton (Linda) of Stanfield, NC and Debbie P. Brown (Chip) of Charlotte, NC; his stepchildren, Lenny Shoemake (Pam) of Rutherford College, NC, Gary Shoemake (Terry) of Southport, NC, Sandra Reid of Rutherford College, NC and Cindy Meadows (Art) of Conover; and his sisters, Louise Stroup of Greenville, SC and Mary "Kitty" Bryson of Fletcher, NC. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
