He is survived by: his wife Joan Stirewalt Reed; his children, Kevin Dean Reed and Lisa Reed Wolfe (John) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Austin, Aaron and Michaela Hildebrand; his siblings, Margaret Reed Spencer (Buck) of Granite Falls, Marjorie Reed Barkley of Hickory, Wanda Reed Childers (Oliver) of Vale and Edwin Reed of Bethlehem; and his sister-in-law Gerri Reed of Conover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Hickory Baptist Church, Hildebran Lions Club, or the Alzheimer's Association.
