He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Vance and Ruth Coffey Howell; his former wife Donna Annas Howell; his siblings, Margaret Moretz and Bill Howell; and his son-in-law John Morris.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Mannon Howell; his children, Valarie Morris of Newton, Leslie Stewart (Ron) of Newton, Marissa Howell of Foley, AL, Brittany Bailey (Matthew) of Wilmington and Justin Howell of Hickory; his grandchildren, Rodney, Ryan, Aaron, Byron, Tiffany and Morgan; his great grandchildren, Alison, Kasey, Avah and Aislin; and his siblings, Mary Frances Bright (Chuck), Maxine Overbay, Bobby Howell (Pat), Johnny Howell (Sandra), Ron Howell (Cindy) and Daniel Howell (Yvette). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
