He was predeceased by: his parents, Pleasant Henry Floyd Carter and Beulah Norman Carter; his former wife Patricia Morris Carter; and his siblings, Nancy Lee Cummings and Charles Floyd Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Norletta Dagenhart Carter; his daughter Marion "Kay" Carter Moore (Jeff) of Hickory; his granddaughters, Megan Elizabeth Carter of Hickory and Morgan Avery Carter of Hickory; his stepchildren, John Milstead of Hickory, Debbie O, Fallon of Greensboro and Kimberly Foster of Charlotte; and his pets, Casey and Lucy.
