He is survived by: his wife Dolly Sanders Barger; his daughter Robin Barger Hoyle of Hickory; his grandchildren, Jim M. Willis II (Carmine) of Hickory, Steven F. Willis (Twana Hudson-Willis) of Columbia, SC and Jenny H. Cook (Rodney) of Hickory; his great grandchildren, Steven Gerret Willis of Columbia, SC and Will Cook of Hickory; his brother Richard Barger (Jeanette) of Conover; his close friend Rick Watts; and also Jena Watts.
Due to the NC Laws pertaining to COVID-19, a private funeral service will be Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 2:00pm at Hillside Baptist Church with Reverend David Crump officiating.
