He was predeceased by: his parents, Avery Carson and Minister Ola Ramseur Carson; his daughter Sandy Carson; and his siblings, Louise Carson Roseboro and Bobby Carson.
He is survived by: his wife Fannie Williams Carson; his daughters, Penny Littman (Paul) of Morganton, N. C. and Frances Collett (William) of Morganton, N. C.; his grandchildren, Alex Carson of Morganton, N. C., Celeste Sidel (John) of Hickory, N. C., Nisha Collett of Morganton, N. C., Asha Mayweather of Morganton, N. C. and Melissa Collett of Morganton, N. C.; his great grandchildren, Tyrese Sidel of Hickory, N. C., Avien Carson of Valdese, N. C., Aubrey Sidel of Hickory, N. C., Meliyah Collett and Melayah Collett of Morganton, N. C.; his siblings, Bishop A. G. Carson (Mertice) of Maryville, Eugene Carson, Melton Carson (Fannie Louise), Howard Carson (Louise) and Elizabeth Williams (Junior); and his brother-in-law Lester Roseboro of Connelly Springs, N. C.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
