It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sue Safrit Mayfield (Hickory, North Carolina), born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, who passed away on February 10, 2019, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Gil; and her grandson Matthew Mahaffey. She is survived by: her children, Rick Mayfield (Barbara) of Hickory, Toni M. D'Alessandris (Joe) of Alpharetta and LeAnne M. Mahaffey (Vernon) of Hickory; her grandchildren, Richard Mayfield, Michael Mahaffey, Anna D. Thomas (Allen, Kelly Olsen), Emily D'Alessandris, Lesli Ann Mayfield, Katie Mahaffey (Bryan Kirby) and Jennie Mahaffey; her great grandchildren, Maxwell and Ella Murray Thomas; her sister Phyl Nichols (Gerald) of Harrisburg, NC.; and her brother-in-law Bob Mayfield of Union City. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
