He is survived by: his wife Margaret Melton Smith; his children, Dr. Scott Smith (Petra Weishaupt-Smith) of Cary, NC and Penny Hunsucker (Dale) of Conover, NC; his siblings, Jim Smith (Susie) of Rock Hill, SC, Allen Smith (Sherry) of Lenoir, NC and JoAnn Laxton of Hudson; his grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Katharina Smith, Josh Curtis (Aura) and Jonathan Curtis (AdriAnne); and his great grandchild Ivy Curtis.
