He was predeceased by: his parents, Gaither Garland Johnson and Estelle Starnes Johnson; and his siblings, Mildred Johnson Honeycutt and Terry Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Betty June May Johnson; his children, Michael W. Johnson of Charlotte, Jeffrey Johnson (Jane) of Hickory and Elizabeth "Libby" Johnson Moore (Lawrence "Larry") of Raleigh; his sisters, Alice Johnson Hope (Melton) of Granite Falls and Janice Johnson Hager (Cloyd "Sonny") of Hickory; his grandchildren, Meredith Moody (Seth) of Raleigh, Rachel Richards of Hickory and Jeffrey Lee Johnson, Jr. of Hickory; and his great grandchildren, Tanner Richards, Kash Johnson of Hickory, Cameron Moody of Raleigh and Hudson Johnson of Hickory.
