He was predeceased by: his parents, Berlie Combs and Sarah Nicholson Combs; his wife JoAnn Wright Combs; and his brother Alan Gray Combs. He is survived by: his children, Kerrie Marie Combs of Kernersville and Kris Alan Combs, Sr. (Shannon) of Rolesville; his stepson Jake Hodges (Lori) of Morganton; his grandchildren, Kris Alan Combs II, Alexis Nichole Hawker, Kayla Hodges and Jacob Hodges; and his sister Jean Voltmann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
