He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Franklin Matthews, Sr. and Marguerite Oldham Matthews; and his brother Jimmy Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Phillips Matthews; his children, Robert Matthews, III (Tracy) of Thomasville, Chris Matthews (Talara) of Mocksville, Bret Matthews (Hannah) of High Point and Michelle Matthews of High Point; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Tessa, Tyler and Graham Matthews.
