He was predeceased by: his parents, Pervie Smith and Leva Weavil Smith; his former wife Juanita Smith; and his siblings, Bobby Smith, Carolyn Goins and Jeanette Sumner.
He is survived by: his wife Theressa Smith; his sons, David Smith (Amy) of High Point and Earl Smith, Jr. (Barbara) of Wilmington, NC; his grandchildren, Heather Miller (Mike) of Raleigh, Adrian Lassiter (Dean) of Wilmington, Charles Smith of High Point and Ansley Frank-Smith (Evan) of Ashville; his sister Sharon Jacobs (Phil); and his sister-in-law Pearl Smith. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
